Huruful Jarr (حُرُوفُ الجَرّ)

The Arabic word "حُرُوف" is the plural form of "حَرْف". You've already covered the meaning of the word "حَرْف" in the Parts of Speech (أَنْوَاعُ الكَلَامِ) lesson.

Different sources translate the term "حُرُوفُ الجَرّ" in various ways. Some call them "prepositions الجرّ", while others call them "particles الجرّ". Let's keep their original name, look at them from the perspective of Arabic speakers, and call them "حُرُوفُ الجَرِّ"

Rule

Huruful Jarr (حُرُوفُ الجَرّ) are حُرُورف that come only before nouns (أَسْمَاء) and put them in the state of الجرّ. Note! Any حَرْف added to any Arabic word adds meaning.In our case, the state of الجرّ is expressed by the vowel diacritic ـِ کسرة
