The Attached pronouns (الضَّمَائِرُ المُتَّصِلَة)

Arabic pronouns (الضَّمَائِرُ) are classified into:

In our previous lesson, we explored detached pronouns (الضَّمَائِرُ المُنْفَصِلة), which are written separately from the noun they modify.

In today's lesson, we will delve into attached pronouns (الضَّمَائِرُ المُتَّصِلَة), which are written directly attached to the noun they possess.

Arabic pronouns (الضَـمَائِرُ) can be written either separately from the noun they refer to or attached directly to it.

📚 Examples of pronouns

هُوَ طَوِيلٌ He is tall
كِـتَابُــهُ عَلَى الـمَـكْتَبِ His book is on the desk

الضَّمَائِرُ الـمُتَصِّلَةُ

The word "المُتَصِّل" is derived from the verb "اِتَّصَلَ", which means "to attach" or "to connect" or "to join". Therefore, the word "المُتَصِّل" means "connecting" or "joined" or "attached".

Attached pronouns (الضمائر المتصلة) are pronouns written directly attached to the word, whether the word is a verb, noun, or particle.
