The Doer Noun (اِسمُ الفَاعِلِ)

Created about 4 hours ago

The Doer Noun (اسمُ الفَاعِل) is a word that shows who or what is doing an action.

To create it from a regular verb, you use the pattern: فَاعِلٌ.

عَلِمَ - عَالِـمٌ Knower, scholar
جَهِلَ - جَاهِلٌ Ignorant, misguided

The Doubled Verb (الفِعْلُ المُضَّعَفُ)

We've already discussed the doubled verb here. In short, this is a verb like عدَّ or حَجَّ, where the last two root letters are the same.

The Doer Noun (اسمُ الفَاعِل) for a doubled verb is formed using the pattern فَاعٌّ.

قَصَّ - قَاصٌّ Storyteller
حَـجَّ - حَاجٌّ Pilgrim
